Michele Van Hoeck is a researcher with PIL and the Dean of the Library at California State University Maritime Academy. She began with PIL in 2009 as a campus liaison for the research assignments and large-scale student survey studies. Since then, Michele has joined the PIL research team and has interviewed participants for the technology, workplace, freshmen, and lifelong learning studies. She has co-authored three peer-reviewed articles with PIL’s Director, Alison Head: “What information competencies matter in today’s workplace?” (2013), “Lifelong learning in the digital age: A content analysis of recent research on participation” (2015), and “Why blogs endure: A study of recent college graduates and motivations for blog readership” (2017). She holds a Masters in Library and Information Studies from University of California Berkeley and a MA in English from Sonoma State University.
